Keeping safe

Hello, My name is Dezray and I am a year 8 student at Paihia School. We have been learning about keeping ourselves safe online. We watched a video about this old man catfishing a 10 year old little girl. He told her that he was 13 but he was really in his forties or fifties. He started to get to know her but at the same time she was starting to like him. He was saving photos of her and stalked her. He told her that he was from the school down the road and she believed him so she thought that they could hang out after school at the park with her friends. But in reality he was just a old man at the park but no he was watching her play with her friends well she wanted for a 13 year old boy when he was in front of her.

But then she reported him to the police and now he’s in jail. The moral of the story is to keep safe when online and when talking to strangers.

Do you have any sort of social media?

Mind Blowing Technology

Hello, my name is Dezray I am a year 8 student at Paihia School. Every second Tuesday the year 7 and 8’s go to Technology. Technology is in Morewa, Technology is either cooking or wood work. This Tuesday the year 8’s are making a waka in wood work, (canoe). We used a power tool to cut it out. When we were finished with that we then sanded it down to make it smooth. It was getting a little bit late so we had to pack up and get ready for play time. After play time  it was home time and so we had to pack up our bags and hopped on the bus. What I did well is focused  on cutting out the sketched line properly. What I could do better is clean up more and listen to the teacher.

Have you used a power tool before?

Taskmaster

Hello my name Dezray. This week in Te Ngahere, We had been learning about work together constructively to complete a common goal.

We had one runner looking at the piece of paper then running back to the drawer, telling us what they saw with the precise location on the paper but they could don’t touch or point to the location. That’s what made it hard. My team did good at communicating with each other. I didn’t really like having 3 people in a group that’s what made it harder in my opinion.

I survive

Something really scary happened last Friday, a tsunami. As soon as I entered school Gina started yelling “IN CLASS EVERYBODY”. I started getting worried. I ran into class hoping it wasn’t anything bad. Then we started doing the roll. As soon as we finished that we rushed up the hill trying to stay in our class form. The sirens started going off all over town. A couple of kids  started crying because they were scared about their family. About mid day I didn’t really mind. This one kind man offered to get our bags that were still in class. We then had lunch. Two men came up with a lot of sausages. Us boys were doing exercise to pass time. I came first in all of them because I had been practicing over several weeks. I just did what I was asked to do and was the  good role model everyone wanted me to be.

Heads Up Scooter Race

In the holidays my family and I went to Heads Up in Whangarei. There were scooters, bikes and a couple of other things that I forgot. The tyres on the scooter were HUGE. Carlitos and I went on the beginner track at first and I boosted it. The hill was at a 45 degree angle. It had jumps and turns. As soon as I had finished that one, Carlitos, my dad and I went on the big boy track. It was so quick that even though I hit the brake, I was still sliding down the hill. Dust went in my eyes so I had to squint and it was getting in Carlito's eyes too. Suddenly he fell and he got a big bruise and blood all over his leg. We had to get an ambulance. We started laughing and carried on with our day. Dad and I went one more time then we went back home and had a BBQ for dinner.

Tips about the Wonder Project

Hello, my name is Dezray and I'm a year 7 student at Paihia School.  Week 9, in Te Ngahere was the last week of the Wonder Project. We had a great time with the Wonder Project engineers that came in and helped us learn about the Newton’s three laws of motion and how it can help our rockets. I really enjoyed them coming over and I hope that we get to do it again. The reason why I liked it was because we got to be in groups with our friends. The thing that I found hard was making the parachute. Next time I will try harder to make the parachute faster and help my group with more of the work. Has the Wonder Project ever came to your school before?

Ki O Rahi

Hello, my name is Dezray and I'm a year 7 at Paihia School. This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning how to hit a jump shot in Ki o rahi. Ki o rahi is a traditional Maori game and much more. It is a game with two teams trying to get a goal by hitting the pou and tupu. Most people in my class love P.E, so we all look forward to going out to P.E. As soon as we get out of the class, everyone gets excited and starts getting loud. After one growling we go. First we start with passing drills then jump and throw the ball to the next person, then the next. I had so much fun in P.E. Thank you for reading my post. Can you please comment on my post? Bye. LINK
