Art

For the past week we have being doing poupou art (Maori art). We had to start with the head then body. The parts that I struggled with was the hands and legs because I’m not that good at art. Most people would think that the head would be the hardest but for me it was pretty easy. I don’t know what colors to use I haven’t finished yet but I will be very happy when it is. Please tell me if I have done anything wrong.

This week in Te Ngahere we had to do a DLO (digital learning object) We had to include how we did it and why. I learnt how to convert fractions into decimals and percentages, I found the Decimals into percentages the easiest and the percentages into fractions the hardest. At first it was hard but the more I tried it became easier. Here is a screencastify showing you an example. Did you learn anything from my screencastify.

In Te Ngahere we have been doing trick shot challenges.
throw a ping pong ball into a cup in the most creative way possible!

Success Criteria
1. It must bounce off a surface

2. You must use cardboard

3. It has to take at least 3 seconds from
start to finish

4. It must land in the cup

What worked well was we were able to make modifications so that the ball did not fall off the cardboard

What didn’t work well was The person throwing the ball couldn’t throw straight so that we change your person throwing the ball and laser better than the last one. Next time we do this or something similar we should make a plan before we start doing our thing.
We are learning to identify maths in the world around us. This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about math eyes. Math eyes are something you can see different from the rest of them For maths we had to look at a picher of some gingerbread men, We had to use our math eyes to notice the math in the picture . I enjoyed when we shared it with the class because everyone noticed different things. Do you have math eyes?

swim safe lesson

In Te Ngahere we had a swim safe lesson. We had to make a DLO (digital learning object) about what we learnt with Tracy. There are five  rules. We learnt that you always have to tell an adult where you're going or an app that you can download and say where you're going, what time you’re  going to be back and how many people are going. She also told us about rips and how to get out of them. The way you get out from a rip is wait for it to stop then swim around it. Make sure you have a adult around that can help you if you get stuck. The learning is to make sure you know your way around the water so everybody can have fun in the ocean.

the Eiffel Tower

In Te Ngahere for the first day back at Paihia School we did a Steam challenge and we made a Tower only made out of two sheets of newspaper and  30 cm of tape. The rules were to Build the tallest freestanding tower with limited materials, with out sicking the tape to the tower then placing the tape to the floor or table. We were learning to collaborate and work as a team and to make a free standing tower only using that equipment. First we got into buddies . My buddies were Calais and Kayden. It took awhile for us to get an idea. Once we got an idea we started building our own tower.  Me and Calais made it and Kayden taped it. Once we were done and the timer just had rang, we all went down to the mat and tested our towers. We found it hard making bottom of the tower because it was ripping and it was hard to contain.  I think for next time we should make the base a lot bigger because it was hard balancing it when it was our turn. We worked well with with Making the paper attach together and communication. We had to put them in the same place or it becomes a variable.  The first person to come First was Kai Dayton and Shay. After their turn Zhynaliyah and Imogen placed First with 118cm. They were the winners of the day.
