Hello bloggers, Today in Te Ngahere we have been doing  a Te Reo Maori DLO. The way I did it was with
a google drawing and writing the things that I learnt in maori with english on the side of it. We also had
to do five words that we learnt this week and last week. he words that I learnt are for at the marae and other places such
as the shop. We were learning new words in maori . Here is my
DLO and can you write a comment on it because I really want
your feedback.

Movie script

In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to write a movie script . We had to get in a group of 3 or less for our movie. My buddy was Kayden and we decided to do an eel hunt. So there was a fisherman who loved fishing (me). He would, always go fishing everyday. Until one day he saw the biggest eel ever. He tried to catch it but he was too busy trying to catch the eel. He fell in then the eel started biting him all day and night. Then his friend heard him and helped him and he lived  a happily ever after. Let me know what you think of my movie script. LINK

Taniwha's

In Te Ngahere we had a group of boys (Taniwha) come in and tell us about rugby. First we asked some questions, then they told us how they came into the Taniwhas. One came from Fiji. The other two came from Auckland but were born somewhere in the North Island. After we finished asking questions we went to play a game.  To play the game you get in one line then run as fast as you can and get to the other side. If you get tagged, you become the tagger and tag other people with the ball. After we finished playing the game we headed to the sausage sizzle and bought one. One of the boys said that they’re the best at basketball. People call him coby on the Court. So he shows us how good he is but nope . He missed it. Then someone did a 3 pointer than swished it.

How to create hummus

On Wednesday we went to the wharekai to make hummus with Gina. Gina picked the most up to date person in the class to help,  It was my friend. I was quite surprised with him getting all of his work done. We were learning to stay healthy and to make a heathy dip. We used chickpeas, garlic, butter, salt, peanut butter, lemon, carrots and crackers. We put all the ingredients into the blender and mixed it for 2 minutes.  After that we then put it in a bowl. Before we did all of that we cut some carrots up and put them on a big plate. We got the carrots then put them in the hummus and ate it. It was nice and hot because my friend put too much paprika in it.

beach clean up

In the morning we had tuakana hui and after Te Maunga left, we had to get In lines and call 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, all the way down to the end. I don’t know why, maybe so we can track how many people are coming to the beach. We were going to the beach to do a beach clean-up.  When we got to the footpath, there were so many people, When we got there I had already found five pieces of rubbish. We were told to put gloves on and find a buddy. My buddy was Reminis. Reminis got the rubbish bag and then we started collecting rubbish. There was a prize for getting the most rubbish. There were cigarette butts, alcohol, alcohol lids, clothes and  plastic. There was so much rubbish the marine life are lucky we got most of it. The reason why we did this is so we can clean the ocean. I learnt people these days get alcohol and their friends and go to the beach to see the beautiful view, They try not to get caught because it is a liquor ban area. So they put their beer in the rocks and put them in the holes that trees can grow out of. With smoking people just chuck there butts right by the rubbish bin. It might be because they will make a fire in the rubbish bin. That is still no excuse. It is still disgusting.

Cross country

Last Friday we had cross country, We went down to Bledisloe Domain. I was a bit excited and scared to start the race. We were learning to give it your best and never give up.  The teacher said 3, 2, 1 go!! My goal was to follow the fastest person and at the end, run as fast as I can and come 1st 2nd or 3rd. I tried to keep up with the fastest one but halfway around the field I got tired. When I got up the hill my heart was ripping out of my chest. When I was halfway to the finish line, Whaea Becks was playing  some sounds. The sounds made me run for 2 minutes. When I got down the hill I past my friend Mark.O he said ‘’what the heck’’ and I laughed. I was running my fastest down the hill I was then coming 3rd. But it came to the straight then Mark ran in front of me. I tried to pinch my stomach because pain usually makes me run faster but I couldn't feel anything.I. I tried my hardest to run but when I got up to him he ran faster and came 3rd.  Soon as I got to the finish line I dropped to the floor.

Quick rip

1 month ago, some Paihia School students
went to a Quick Rip tournament held at Kaikohe. The
people that were in my team were Harlem, Dale, Kayden
and Vaughan. Also there were 3 girls but I don't know what
there names were. I got 4 tries and we bet some other
schools but, I don't know their names. We also beat
Mangamuka and won. It was not fair because they had year
4’s and 5’s but the year level was 6, we still won. I think we
won because we had more experience. I love the bit when
I got 4 tries. The bit that I hate is when the time bell just rang
and then I just got a try but then it didn't count. The good thing
was that we still won. I was so proud of myself!

He aha tenei!

For the past week we have being doing Te Reo Maori In our class. We had to take pictures of things that are in our class so that we can put it on our  google slides. We had to put on a slideshow he aha tenei with us holding the object that we wanted. Then on the other slide we say he something tena but we really don't say he something tena for example He aha tenei he He Rorohiko Tena. We are learning to Understand Te Reo Māori words for items around the classroom.

Science fair

For the past 8 weeks we have being doing science fair. We had to pick a real world problem in our house. My science fair question was what battery lasted the longest. We tested Rechargeables, Max life and Eveready. We thought that the rechargeable batteries will last the longest because they cost the most and said they lasted for 13 hours, on the packet. We tested the batteries on a remote controlled car. There was one person looking at the timer/looking at the car and me writing down the time. The timer person was really doing nothing but just being the captain. It was a bit boring being the writer. I like watching Darrius driving the remote control car. I think I need to work on being patient
and not telling him to drive the car. The LINK
